A few thoughts while eating an apple.

The story of Mr.Maezawa and the ISS has been making the rounds on the Internet. Tonight, there will be a live broadcast from the ISS  on a midnight radio program "All Night Nippon". Well, I guess technically it's easy, but I'm going to listen to it.

Well, I ate too much yesterday, so I decided to have an apple and yogurt for lunch, and when I picked up an apple, I wanted to try this. The diameter of the earth is 12742km, the altitude of the ISS is about 400km, and the diameter of the apple I picked up was 66mm.  If you compare the apple to the earth, the altitude of the ISS would be about 2mm. This is about the size of two peels of an apple peeled with a peeler. And here's a photo taken with two apple peels on top of an apple.

My impression was that it was flying at a surprisingly low altitude. But by the way, the E layer of the ionosphere, which reflects medium wave radio waves, is much lower in altitude, only about 100 km. It's not even as thick as a peeled skin. When you think in this way, we are as small as a microorganism, aren't we?
