The band " Japanese Breakfast" is cool!

     One of American MW DXers told me about this band. Tne band name is very unique. According to Wikipedia, The female vocal Michelle Zauner is not Japanese but Korean and  Jewish descent. She grew up relating to Japanese culture quite a bit because it felt like the closest thing she had to Korean popular culture in America. This band's name might be born in her mixed Japanese and Korean culture experiences in America. The sound of this band reminds me of 80-90's rock music. I am 53 years old, so the sound of this band is very comfortable for me.

    This band seems to be popular on youtube day by day. Her vocal pitch is still a little bit unstable sometimes, but it is fun to watch her jumping on the stage. She is so cute. I hope to see this band's live performance with an ice-cold beer in the evening of the hot summer season in Japan someday.

  あるアメリカの中波DXerからこのバンドのことを教えてもらいました。このバンドの名前は面白いですよね。「日本の朝食」ですからね。紅一点の女性ボーカルはミッシェル・ザウナー。彼女は日本人ではなく、ウキペディアによれば、韓国人とユダヤ人の家系の方とのことです。彼女は、生まれ育ったアメリカで韓国文化に近いと彼女が感じた日本文化にも影響を受けながら育ったとのことで、それがこのバンドの名前の由来なのかもしれません。このバンドの音は、53歳の私にとって80-90年代の音のような感じがします。とても心地良く感じられます。
このバンドは、Youtube上で日に日にポピュラーになっているようです。彼女のボーカルは若干まだ不安定なところがありますが、ステージでぴょんぴょん撥ねる様子は可愛いですね。いつかこのバンドのライブ演奏を夏の夕方にキンキンに冷えたビールを飲みながら日本で見てみたいものです。

 After I wrote this blog,  I noticed that this band came to Japan last December for its first live performance in Japan.

ネットで調べてみると、昨年の12月には代官山に初日本ライブで来日していました。
気が付かず残念！

TDXC annual journal PROPAGATION Vol.6 was introduced in a program of FM West-Tokyo on Aug.9.

     TDXC's annual journal PROPAGATION Vol.6 was introduced in a program called QRL of a community FM station "FM West-Tokyo" on 84.2MHz on August 9. This Japanese program is broadcasted to amateur radio hobbyists in and around Tanashi city.  You can listen to the audio clip of this program here. 
    I am so glad to know that the male DJ of this program evaluated this journal highly. I am impressed that he said " Is it really OK that this great journal is totally free?

戸塚DXerサークルの年会誌プロパゲーションの第6号がコミュニティFM局であるFM西東京の番組QRLで紹介されました。QRLは田無市周辺在住のアマチュア無線家に向けて放送されている番組ですが、この リンクから音声ファイルを聴くことが可能です。是非聞いてみてください。番組内で、男性DJの方が、この会誌をとても高く評価して下さったので、執筆者の一人として、とても嬉しく感じました。特に男性DJの方が、「この会誌は無料で本当にいいのかな？」って言ってくださったところ思わずニヤニヤしてしまいました。

Making my DX log on Google Maps

     I have participated in MW DX expeditions in Japan with many DXers since 1996. I 've recorded the all received MW signals into SDR files but unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to analyze them. I think it would be worth for my DX records to visualize each received station on a world atlas because the location distribution of received stations is easily grasped at a glance.
     Here is the link to my DX log on Google maps.  This is still under construction but I will add my past MW DX logs on this map as possible as I can during this summer vacation. You can click one of the small icons of my received stations then you can see the log data and the clickable link to audio or video file of each station.

  1996年より、多くの中波DXerの方々と中波DXペディションに参加してきました。それぞれのペディションで受信した信号は全てSDRのファイルとして保存していますが、解析している時間が十分に取れていないのが実情です。自分が受信した中波DX局を地図上にマッピングすることはその受信局のロケーションの分布等が一目でわかるので有益だと思っています。
 私の受信ログをグーグルマップにマッピングしたものを公開します。まだ自分が受信した全局はプロットできていませんが、この夏休み中に過去の受信局を出来るだけ加えてみようと画策しているところです。地図上の受信局の小さいアイコンをクリックすると、左側にログデータとオーディオあるいはビデオへのリンクを参照することができます。オーディオあるいはビデオへのリンクはクリックしていただくと、受信した時の状況の受信音等を聴くことが可能です。

TDXC Journal "PROPAGATION" Vol.6

   I had been very busy with my work and I didn't update my blog for about one year!!  I am a member of TDXC (Totsuka DXers Circle) and I had been concentrating on some articles for TDXC annual journal "Propagation" Vol.6 since this May.
  I posted 3 articles. The first one is Interview with a Canadian DXer Mr. Nick Hall-Patch who visited Japan and joined our MW DX expeditions in Nigata and Kiritappu in Hokkaido. The second one is A prediction method of electric field strength and reception CN ratio for TP-DXing on MW band by ITU-R P.1147-4 and P.372-13.  The third one is a report of a radio wave school for high school students in which I taught them some attractions of radio waves.
 This edition is written in Japanese for most of the parts but some articles are written in English including the index. So I hope you can imagine what is wrote about in this journal.  We are the same enthusiasts of SWL and MW DXing so I believe you can easily understand our journal ;-) .
