On August 4, NHK announced its management plan for the next fiscal year (2021-2023), which includes a plan to reduce the number of channels for satellite and AM radio broadcasting.
Of the four satellite broadcasting channels, the plan combines the high-definition (2K) quality "BS1" and "BS Premium" into one channel and the plan also states that "consideration will be given to reducing the number of satellite channels including the high-definition (4k) quality " BS4K" to one in the future.
